This articles details the steps involved in the process of setting up a carrier cost profile.
Carrier cost profile rules are set up to pre-calculate shipping rates. These are then used in the Shipment Cost section at the time of creating a shipment or for the Get Rates option for shipments in draft when a carrier costing service doesn't exist. Carrier Cost Profiles can be set for single or multiple carrier accounts. To understand the Get Rates option, visit this article.
Permissions: Only users with Admin and Account Manager access roles are able to create and manage carrier cost profiles.
Setting up a Carrier Cost Profile
1. Navigate to Carriers > Costing on the Carriyo Dashboard. The page displays the list of all existing cost profiles. To create a new cost profile, click on the add icon on the top right corner. Users can also make use of columns to display relevant information.
2. Appropriately name the profile and enter the default shipping cost and currency. The tax rate will be used to calculate the tax amount used for the shipping charge. Make sure that toggle switch is enabled. A single Cost Profile can apply to multiple carrier accounts. Assign the desired carrier accounts and click on Save once all required changes are made.

3. The operations possible on a carrier cost profile are edit, duplicate and delete. Users can also click on the profile to enable editing. Duplicating a cost profile will also copy the rules inside it.
Activating & Deactivating cost profiles
If cost profiles are intermittently used or have been created to use at a later time, their state can be set to inactive. This will prevent these profiles from showing up in operations related to them.
For Carriyo to use this profile instead of the carrier provided costing API, if it exists, the toggle switch named Carrier Costing API should be enabled in the carrier account setup. Visit this article to learn how to enable this option.
