This article briefly explains the steps required to create a carrier account in Carriyo.
Within Carriyo, a carrier is an entity that is responsible for delivering shipments from a merchant to a customer or vice versa. Carriyo allows creation of multiple carrier accounts for the same carrier. The credentials and services may differ from one carrier to another. Only the common settings are explained below.
Detailed carrier account setup guides are explained in this section.
Permissions: Only users with Account Manager/Admin roles are able to create and manage carrier accounts.
Carrier Account Setup
1. Navigate to Settings > Carrier Management > Carrier Accounts on the Carriyo Dashboard. The page displays a list of all carrier accounts that have been previously created. To create a new carrier account, click on the add icon on the top right corner.
Users can also perform operations such as search, filter, refresh etc.
3. Once the initial details are filled in, the user will be directed to the newly set up carrier account page. The settings common to all carrier accounts can be categorized into three - General, Label, and Merchant settings. The View Change Log option displays all changes made to the account.
General Settings
This subsection explains all toggle button actions.
- For a carrier account to be properly assigned to shipments based on the automation rules and carrier networks it is assigned to, it must be active.
- When the Live Connector toggle button is switched on, it gets connected to the carrier's live delivery management systems. Else, all API calls will be made to the carrier's test systems. If this toggle is switched off, the account type will be Sandbox, which is displayed in the account list.
- Enabling the Auto Mark as Ready to Ship option ensures that once the shipments are successfully booked, the status will automatically be updated to Ready to Ship. This is especially helpful in case of connectors. See this list of connectors that Carriyo supports and detailed guides on how to set them up.
- The Carrier Costing API option can only be enabled either if the carrier provides a costing service or if there are costing profiles set up for the carrier accounts. Visit this article to learn how to create costing profiles.
Account Country and Account Currency are required fields.
Label Settings
When a shipment is booked and the label request is made to the carrier, all available documents are presented to the user both on the dashboard and via the Carriyo API. Of these, the default label is set to the one selected here. Here, Aramex label refers to the carrier label. The default label in the Documents section for a certain shipment will have the same label saved.
Merchant Settings
This setting keeps account of the Merchants that have the access to use the carrier account.
4. The process of setting up carrier accounts vary from one carrier to another. All further information to be entered are explained in the detailed carrier account setup guides. Once all details are filled in, click on Save.
5. The final step is to configure the callbacks. If the carrier supports real-time updates, you must configure the specific details on the carrier's side for the account to receive these updates. Contact the carrier's team to proceed with this operation. This step must be followed for each [unique] account created. This information can be found at the bottom of the carrier account setup page you’re trying to set up. Use the copy icon to copy the details to your clipboard.
Note: The above is an example. Refer to the carrier account setup page to obtain the actual callback configuration details.
Managing carrier accounts
Allowed operations of carrier accounts are edit, duplicate, and delete. Users can also click on the carrier account name to enable the editing process. The Contact Carrier option lets users send a mail to the carrier team.
Activating & Deactivating Carrier Accounts
If certain carrier accounts are only used for certain periods of time, these accounts can benefit from being activated solely when required and otherwise kept deactivated.
