This article demonstrates the steps to schedule collection and delivery of shipments.
In Carriyo, the collection and delivery of shipments (glossary) can be scheduled beforehand. This will directly affect the Customer Promise or the Collection and Delivery Service Levels, if they are set up. Setting up Service Levels helps users in identifying shipments at risk and late shipments. Carriyo also prepares reports such as Service Level, Carrier Performance etc., based on Service Levels. To understand more about Service Levels, visit this article.
The process of scheduling shipments can be done at the time of booking. Carriyo will display a warning if the dates are in the past but this won't affect any operations involved.
The Collection/Pickup schedule will be in set in the timezone of the pickup country and the Delivery/Dropoff schedule uses the timezone of the dropoff country.
Schedule Collection & Delivery of a shipment
1. Navigate to Shipping > Shipments on the Dashboard. On the Create Forward/Reverse Shipment page, there will be an + add collection & delivery schedule option. Clicking on it will display a section called Collection & Delivery Schedule.
Here, the pickup country is the United Arab Emirates and the dropoff country is Egypt. This is reflected in the Collection & Delivery section.
The time and date to be set is up to the users, but carrier schedule and availability, if set, will have an effect on the same.
Rescheduling a shipment
Carriyo also supports rescheduling of a shipment for any reason known or unknown. This can be done for individual shipments or in bulk. However, it should be noted that Service Levels can be affected by this change. In order to solve this problem, Carriyo also allows to make changes to the promise date. This way, the modified schedule will be part of the newly set promise date and will be reflected in all places where the Service Levels are in use. Note that updates in scheduled Delivery date will not update carrier systems.
The Reschedule Collection and Reschedule Delivery option is provided both on the Shipments page and inside a specific shipment.
- For individual shipments
- For a group of shipments, select desired shipments and click on the three-dot icon (menu) to display the options.
Users can either set a timeslot on a single day or choose a date range that suits their needs. Clicking on the Apply button will set the changes in place.
