This article explains the steps how to display carrier shipping rates on the Shopify checkout page.
The Shopify connector in Carriyo includes an enhanced feature that facilitates fetching of carrier shipping rates from the carrier costing API through Carriyo. These rates will be presented on the checkout page during the final step of the order placement process.
The rates will be displayed under Shipping Method section. It will look something like this:
Setting up
1. Navigate to Settings > Integration > Connectors on the Carriyo Dashboard.
2. If you don't already have a Shopify connector, set one up by referring to this guide. If you do, click on the required connector to manage the configuration settings.
3. In the connector settings page, enter the Shopify API Password (required for this feature) and enable the Checkout page shipping rates integration to Shopify toggle.
- The Shopify API Password is the API Secret Key for the connector in Carriyo. To obtain this information, navigate to your Shopify settings > Apps and sales channels > click on Develop apps (choose the app that corresponds to the shopify connector in Carriyo. Here, Carriyo Shopify App).
- Next, go to the API credentials section and copy the API secret key.
- Paste this in the Shopify API Password field under Setup Settings in the connector settings page in Carriyo.
- Scroll down to the Settings and Options section and enable the Checkout page shipping rates integration to Shopify toggle.
4. Once the configuration is done, the next step is to set the Costing Profiles for carrier accounts.
Carrier rates can be fetched from 4 different sources.
- Carrier Costing Profile
- Carrier Costing Profile + Service Information in the carrier account settings
- Carrier Costing API
- Carrier Costing API + Service Information in the carrier account settings
Note that carrier rates will not be displayed if neither the Carrier Costing Profile is set up nor the Carrier Costing API toggle is enabled. One of these has to be enabled to fetch the rates.
1. Carrier Costing Profile - you can define a costing profile for one or more carriers with a default amount and tax rate. Costing Profiles are helpful when the carrier has no costing API or if the carrier is a custom one. Optionally, you can also create costing rules for more specific scenarios. Refer to this article to learn how to set up a carrier costing profile.
2. Carrier Shipping Rates (Costing API) - if you do not require a costing profile, you can simply enable the Carrier Shipping Rates toggle in the account setup page of the desired carrier account. In this case, the shipping rates will be fetched from the carrier costing API instead of the Carriyo costing engine. To do this, navigate to Settings > Carrier Accounts under Carrier Management > select desired carrier.
3. Service Information - additionally, you can also define a service for a specific carrier account as per the service offered by the carrier. To do this, navigate to Settings > Carrier Accounts under Carrier Management > select desired carrier > go to the Settings tab.
Note that defining a service alone cannot be used to fetch the rates. This has to be used in combination with either of the above configurations.
Once everything is set up, the rates will be fetched when you are in the checkout page in Shopify.
