This article is a guide on how to create and manage automation rulesets.
Automation rules are what facilitates the process of automatically assigning carriers to shipments based on shipment attributes. Automation rules can be configured for both Forward and Reverse Shipments, as can automation rulesets.
Automation rulesets are different from automation rules in the fact that rules are contained within rulesets. Rules that have similar properties such as merchant and pickup country are designed to be grouped together and assembled into a single ruleset. These properties are inherited by the rules from the ruleset.
Carriyo does not allow the existence of duplicate rules or duplicate rulesets.
Permissions: Only users with Admin, Manager, and Account Manager access roles are allowed to handle creation and management of automation rulesets.
Creating a ruleset
1. Navigate to Automation on the Dashboard. Here, the Forward Automations subsection is for rules applicable to forward shipments and Reverse Automations is for rules applicable to reverse shipments. Select the desired section. Click on the add button on the top right corner to create a new ruleset.
The page will display all the existing rulesets for the account. The names of merchants become visible on hovering over the number or the question mark. The toggle signifies the state of the ruleset inactive or active). To display only active rules, user can enable the toggle switch located next to the search button.
2. Give the ruleset a suitable name and specify the pickup countries and merchants. Make sure that the state is set to active. Note: Carriyo doesn't allow duplicate rules or rulesets.
3. Click on save. If the ruleset is not displayed immediately after its creation, click on the refresh option located in the top right corner of the page.
Managing rulesets
The only available operations for a ruleset are to edit or delete. The view logs option contains a detailed log of the changes made to the ruleset such as newly added or modified rules.
If a ruleset is saved for later use but not activated immediately, toggling the switch to set its state as inactive proves to be a convenient option. This also prevents shipments from being assigned to an undesired carrier. It is crucial to note that deactivating a ruleset will also deactivate the individual rules within it.
