Calling the carrier API
This method allows you to directly retrieve costs from the carrier when estimating or requesting rates. Navigate to Carriers > Accounts on the Carriyo Dashboard. Choose a carrier account and activate the Carrier Costing API option as demonstrated below.
Carriyo will automatically call their API, providing all shipment details (such as weight, volume, number of parcels, delivery type, etc.), and the carrier will then share the associated costs.
These shipment costs will be displayed on the shipment detail screen when you create or edit the shipment. Simply select the carrier which interests you and navigate to the Shipment cost section. Then, click on the Calculate (or Recalculate) button.
Then, the carrier will return the associated costs :
Costing Profile
For carriers that don't have this capability, the Carrier Costing API cannot be enabled. In such cases, you can utilize Carriyo Costing profiles.
These Costing Profiles can also be used if you prefer not to use the carrier API. Simply disable the option and upload your contract details in the profile.
You can find this feature by navigating to Carriers > Costing :
Create a new Costing profile by clicking on the + icon in the top right corner :
Then assign the profile name, the default amount value and the concerned carrier accounts. Ensure that the profile is active.
Once saved, you can create the rules associated by clicking on the + add record icon.
This will open the Create Costing Rule page.
In the top section, fill in general information such as name, and amount. You have the option to restrict this to forward shipments, reverse shipments or both.
Under Conditions, you can enter the conditions to apply to this rule such as delivery type, weight, pick up location and more.
Finally, the last block is used to set the Schedule. You can set rules to be applied only for certain days and timings or for a defined period (such as specific prices during commercial periods or holidays).
Once this information is filled, simply click on the save button at the top.
The costing profile will be saved and used to calculate your shipment costs.
