This article explains and outlines the steps required to create and manage a manifest in Carriyo.
Manifests, in simple terms, are packing lists. A collection of shipments having the same carrier are typically grouped together to make a packing list or a manifest. The presence of manifests account for an easier and effective method of shipment collection. Scheduling and rescheduling the pickup with the carrier is also allowed.
Permissions: Only users with Account Manager, Admin, Manager and Operator access roles are able to create and manage manifests.
Enabling multi-location manifests
Navigate to Settings > Account on the Carriyo Dashboard. In the System tab, enable the Multi-Location Manifests toggle. This action will let you create manifests from multiple locations from different merchants. If this toggle is off, manifests can only consist of shipments from a single pickup location.
Note: This action can only be performed by users with Admin access role.
Creating a Manifest
1. Navigate to Shipping > Manifests on the Carriyo Dashboard. The page displays all existing or previously created manifests. To create a new manifest/packing list, click on the add icon on the top right corner.
Users can also use options such as columns, filter, search and quick filters to sort out and display relevant information.
2. Provide an appropriate name along with the carrier account associated with the shipments. Select the locations and the "ship from location". The "ship from location" will be the final destination from which the shipments will be collected. Merchants need not be the same for all shipments. Select All Merchants from the dropdown list if shipments belong to different merchants.
The Pickup Schedule can be manually entered or can be scheduled using the Date-Time picker (click on the calendar icon).
3. Users can either add shipments using the Add Shipments option or the Scan Shipment option to add shipments to the manifest. The status of the shipments must be booked or ready to ship in order for them to be added into the packing list.
4. For shipments to appear in the Add shipments popup dialog box, it's essential that the carrier account, merchant, and pickup location match the details specified in the manifest. Users have the ability to select individual shipments and additionally make use of filters while using this option. Click on the Add Shipments button at the bottom of the dialog box once desired shipments are selected.
Click on the box in the header row to select all shipments displayed here.
5. The Scan Shipments option lets users scan shipment ID, or enter the order number, reference number or tracking number to the manifest. Click on Add Shipments once all shipments are scanned or added.
6. Click on Save once shipments are added to the packing list. Click on any shipment to be redirected to its Shipment Detail page. The delete option allows users to remove all shipments from the packing list, as long as the manifest is in 'Draft' status.
Managing a manifest
1. To change the status of a manifest from Draft to Ready to Ship, click on the menu (three-dot) button. Next, click on Confirm to declare the shipments as a packing list to the carrier and update its status. It can also be updated to 'Cancelled'. The 'view change log' option displays all changes made to the manifest.
2. Once updated to 'Ready to Ship', the label will be ready to print. Click on the print icon in the Documents column to print the manifest label.
3. To change the status to Shipped, click on the 'Ship' option. Once updated to Shipped, it cannot be cancelled. Click on the Reschedule option to change the pickup schedule.
4. Shipments can be filtered on the manifest ID on the Shipments listing page and the shipment record will be displayed as seen below.
